Welcome to a preview of my recent designs
Beech Slab Table Commissions 2017
I was commissioned to make two tables for clients in Yorkshire, they were both looking for a striking slice of a tree to be used as a slab top coffee table. Working with British hardwoods I searched through their extensive for suitable wood for the design. It had to be over 100 cm wide and 130 cm long and 12 cm thick. Once the wood was sourced and prepared the work of carving the timber into shape began. Each slab had its own characteristics and bloom within the slabs.
The two slab tables both had amazing sun radials in the wood, As can be seen in the finished tables, I use Osmo Oil to finish my tables due to its natural ingredients and ability to perform to a very high standard.
The Driftwood Memorial Table Commission
A private commission to celebrate the life of family member of my client, The table is made from a 15 cm thick slab of driftwood that was found on one of my beach walks on the wirral coastline. The centre is a carved bowl filled with resin and the ashes of my client relative. The final piece was was finished with Tung Oil and classic hairpin legs to the the table view of floating.
